This Bak Kut Teh stall has been one of my family favourites. I have been visiting them since their original location at Blanco Court coffeeshop (long ago), till they moved to the Rocher stall inside the coffeeshop. I also visited another stall at the shophouse opposite Central (New Bridge Road) which bare similar name though I don’t know if they are related?
The Rocher stall is “Song Fa Day & Night Bak Kut Teh 松發日夜市肉骨茶” while the New Bridge Road stall is “Song Fa Bak Kut Teh“. As mentioned the Rochor stall is inside a coffeeshop while the New Bridge Road shop looks more “commercialised” with Pork Rib Soup served in dainty ceramic painted cock bowls, provided wet tissues and laminated English, Chinese, Jap language Menus. One of the shops is even air-conditioned.
Song Fa Day & Night Bak Kut Teh at Rochor Centre is on the other hand unpretentious, catered mostly to neighbourhood crowd. I liked the Pork Ribs used as they are hugh & juicy, cooked to the right tenderness. The soup is only slightly peppery, served in large plastic bowls which meant that we can have a larger portion of the soup before having to ask them for refill. I also like their beancurd skin (can choose to serve with or without chicken feets).
I’m always satisfied with a meal there with just these two items~
