This place has been a favorite family eating place since we discovered them at their old stall located at Blair Street. They have now relocated to a shophouse near Maxwell Hawker Centre. The seating capacity is pretty small hence there is usually a need to queue for a table.
Their signature dish is obviously their Fish Steamboat. We usually order their Red Grouper Steamboat. I loved the soup as its tasty and thick, filled with pieces of fish, yam, seaweed, chinese lettuce etc. I also like dipping my fish meat in their chilli sauce which is watery and has a sweet & sour taste.
Previously at Blair Street, their steamboat uses charcoal heat to keep the soup warm. Now at the air-conditioned shophouse, they use gas cooker instead, unless you get an outdoor table (which is limited).
My favorite dish there is their Shrimp Paste Chicken (Har Cheong Kai). Deep fried to a nice crisp and remember to ask for the special chilli sauce for this dish! It never fails to disappoint me!
The last on my list of favorite dishes is the Dry-Fried Prawn (Har Lok). The sauce used was perfect for my taste, although sometimes the prawns weren’t exactly big nor fresh enough.
Some of the other dishes which I had tried before were the Claypot Tofu (which was so-so only), Mongol Tofu (home-made tofu) and Salted Egg Pork Ribs. But these dishes IMO were not as impressive.
