PS Cafe

The recent hot weather in Singapore is forcing us to have lunch at air-conditioned venues to avoid the heat… Was told that there was a PS Cafe at Palais Renaissance…which I wasn’t aware of despite having visited the shopping arcade a couple of times.

Its located on the 2nd floor of the quiet shopping arcade and upon entering the cafe, it just seemed like the unit is an extension of the building from its loft ceiling! The decorations made the place looked like a relaxing colonial style cafe with its decorated floors, black & white rattan chair and ceiling fans etc.

I noticed that the food portions there were huge, so we decided to share the main instead of ordering individual meals.

Ordered “Soup of the Day” which was Potato & Leek and the PS Crispy Onion Burger (chargrilled wagyu & US chuck pattie topped with melting gruyere & mozzarella cheese, beefsteak tomato, mesclun greens, sauteed mushrooms & spiced crispy onions on a toasted sesame bun with PS shoestring fries).

I felt that the soup was slightly too oily for me, thou it was really quite thick. The burger was very filling and we enjoyed the fries a lot. The fries was deep fried to a nice crisp and was served with ketchup and tar tar dips. There was an option to upgrade to Truffle Shoestring Fries for $5 (tossed in truffle oil) but we turned down the offer.

By the end of our meal, we were so full that there wasn’t any more space for desserts. But I’m impressed by the humongous size of the cakes & desserts! On our left, the guests ordered a Chocolate éclair which was the size of a log cake~ and on our right, the guests ordered a slice of the Chocolate crunch doorstep cake (named by Time Out Singapore as one of the Top 50 tastiest treats).

Guess I’ll be back to try their desserts for tea time~

[Update on 23 Nov 12]

Back at PS Cafe and manage to try their Chocolate crunch doorstep cake~! Very rich and chocolatey indeed. Has chunks of nuts (seems to be walnut) at the base above the laywer of brownie. Crunchy chocolate balls are so cute~

I also ordered their King Prawn Aglio Olio Garlic, Olive Oil & Chilli tossed with Grilled King Prawns, Spinach, Spaghettini with Fresh Herbs & Tomato Sesame Bread Crumbs. Fine & al-dente spaghetti with fresh king prawns. Flavoursome~
