Ordered the Truffle fries signature shoestring tossed with truffle oil and truffle salt, supposedly the best seller at the owner’s other eatery – Chillax Cafe. It was really good and I must say they were pretty generous with the truffle oil as we could smell the aroma once it was served.
Also ordered the Crackling pork belly 48-hour slow cooked pork belly roasted to a crackling crisp and served with whole grain mustard sauce, to go with the Weihenstephan beer available on draught. While the roast pork wasn’t as aromatic as I expected, the whole grain mustard sauce made up for the shortfall. The whole grain mustard tasted better than the typical yellow sauce.
Finally we tried the Babette Chirashi Donburi Marinated assortment of fresh sashimi, tamago and tobiko on warm rice served with miso soup. It was interesting to find Japanese don available in pub/bar. And more importantly the quality of the chirashi here was quite decent. Up to par with those sold in mid-range Japanese eatery.
Other than the food, we also enjoyed the music selection played in the eatery that night, not sure if its because the owner is a radio DJ.
Was checking with the staff to see if they got any lunch promo available, cos this would make a nice place to relax for lunch. Hope they have some set lunch promo soon.
