First meal after touchdown in London was Gold Mine Restaurant in Bayswater. Never mind that it’s supposed to be Valentine’s day and we should have gotten ourselves a nice meal at one of the many restaurants on town. We would rather have a quick meal and return to rest in our hotel after the 14-hour flight.
We were pretty eager to enjoy the unforgettably delicious roast duck that we first tasted 5 years ago. However the duck turned out slightly disappointing. Gone were the crispy skin and tasty sauce. The fats under the skin of the roast duck was still visible – one of the reasons for yummy roasts here in London compared to the leaner ducks in Singapore. While the meat remained tender and juicy, the sauce tasted slightly bland today. Chilli was also losing it’s spiciness and aroma. Not sure if my tastebud was affected after the flight?
Nonetheless it was a good meal, thou it didn’t rekindle my fond memories of the fabulous taste. Perhaps l should check out the competitor – Four Seasons restaurant if I can squeeze it into my schedule.
