CREATURES

Visited a new cafe – CREATURES, discovered by a lunch khaki. The place is located a corner away from the famous Swee Choon Tim Sum place in Jalan Besar.

The aircon was pretty cold as we could felt cold drafts of air constantly directed at us. Hence I ordered a hot dried longan & red date drink to keep myself warm. For main I had the Miso Cod & Ulam Onigiri Oven-roasted miso cod, belachan assam herb rice balls accompanied by cucumber salad in plum sauce and lime juice dressing. The cucumber salad was crunchy and very refreshing. Absolutely enjoyed it. Miso cod was well cooked, moist and flaky. The rice balls were interesting in taste as it was an amalgamation of  distinct flavours, but thankfully the portions were kept small which made it palatable for me.

One of the lunch khakis ordered the Zhu Burger Pork patty marinated with XO Cognac, topped with cheese, caramelised onions and tomato, served with mesclun salad and crispy fries. Feedback was the patty was rather bland and tasteless.

Another of the lunch khakis ordered a post-meal dessert of Durian Cake Pandan Genoise Sponge + Pandan Vanilla Chantilly Cream + Mao Shan Wang Durian Paste. While I didn’t get to try it (cos I was sick), I could smell that rich durian flavour. I hope I can go back to try it someday.
