The 2nd booking I made during Restaurant Week was db Bistro & Oyster Bar. The restaurant is situated strategically opposite the entrance to Marina Bay Sands Theatre, along with Osteria Mozza. Featured prominently at the entrance is a clear glass display of the fresh seafood available.
Upon arriving, our eyes were glued to the fresh seafood platters that were a common sight on other diners’ tables. We decided to try one ourselves although it was not in the Restaurant Week menu. So here’s the Signature Seafood Platter Selection of oysters, maine lobster, jumbo prawns, mussels, clams, ceviche & tartares. Although the seafood were reasonably fresh, we had much better ones at lesser cost overseas.
We paired the seafood platter with db signature cocktails of White Cosmopolitan and a Tiki drink – Conga Punch.
Now for the 3-course Restaurant Week menu priced at $58++ per person. Starting with Butternut Squash Soup Toasted Pumpkin Seeds, Cinnamon Marshmallows. The soup was creamy, smooth and not too sweet.
For main, we chose the Red Wine Braised Short Rib Heirloom Carrot Variations. The meat was well-cooked and the meat falls apart at the slightest tug. The gravy was thick and rich, although its a tad overly-cloying for me.
Dessert of Molten Chocolate Cake Sea Salt Caramel, “Hot Chocolate” Ice Cream was a nice ending to the meal.
