Japan Rail Cafe

Explored another new-to-market eatery in Tanjong Pagar CentreJapan Rail Cafe. Other than serving up delicious food, the cafe also features a retail section carrying items from different regions in Japan. Customers can also purchase Japan Rail passes from the dedicated counter within the same shop space.

When we visited the cafe, they are featuring Tohoku region on their Japan Rail Times newsletter. Hence I tried the Kaisen Avocado Don containing salmon sashimi, Aomori scallops and avocado. The don comes with soup that can be poured into the remaining rice bowl to turn it into an ochazuke.

Another main dish we tried was the Watashino Curry Rice customisable by choosing 1 main & 1 side dish. We chose the Fried oysters as main and Crab cream korokke as side but they looked the same (ok the larger sized on on the extreme right was the korokke)~

Both the rice dishes were pretty filling and of reasonable quality. There are also a small selection of pastry for takeaways and interesting beverages available. We wanted to try the Seasonal Iced Fruit Tea featuring Peach Tea, unfortunately it was sold out. They also have a seasonal yogurt drink featuring fruit puree from Japan.

As we visited them while they were still testing out their operation with a soft opening, perhaps they will extend their menu soon.
